Uplifting and enhancing a car insurance product from MVP (Minimum Viable Product) to launch.

The opportunity
Implementing technical and design updates for Hyphen’s car insurance product.

The outcome
Users who need car insurance can move through the product seamlessly, and strategic direction that provided guidance and enabled culture transformation design thinking for the Hyphen team.

The client

Hyphen Group are a portfolio of fintech companies based in Hong Kong and Singapore. They own Singsaver, a product that matches Singaporean citizens with personal finance products.

SingSaver’s existing car insurance product was early in it’s product development cycle and ready for a round of updates. No Moss were engaged to provide our design leadership and expertise to bring SingSaver to the next level, as well as provide design training to the internal teams, so they could start leading and adopting design principles in their products.

The No Moss team prototyped guiding design principles to uplift the SingSaver form, including error message recovery, form visual design, and visually rewarding users for finishing a form.

The design work

After reviewing the existing SingSaver product and conducting competitor and heuristic analysis, No Moss implemented design updates based on best practices and principles, including information architecture restructuring, visual refinements centred on User Interface heuristics, providing new and clear copy, and best practices for error management.

The new designs were tested and usability studies conducted to ensure that the product was meeting real users expectations. Additional work included uncovering API dependencies that was blocking further development of the car insurance product, and working with the SingSaver development team to implement design updates.

Results and outcomes

  • After a 6 month augmentation, the Singsaver car insurance product increased sales of ~200%.
  • Strategic UX transformation successfully delivered to internal Singsaver teams.
  • The Car Insurance product continues to live and breathe to this day, with design principles actively present for SingSaver customers to enjoy.
